Southern Energy names Robinson vice president of investor relations

ATLANTA – Southern Energy Inc., a unit of Southern Company, has named John Robinson vice president of investor relations, overseeing Southern Energy’s communications with investors and analysts.

“John’s global experience will be valuable as he ensures that investors and analysts have all the information they need to accurately assess Southern Energy’s finances and goals,” said Marce Fuller, president and chief executive officer of Southern Energy Inc.

Before being named vice president, Robinson, 44, was chief operating officer for Southern Energy Europe BV, the company’s European power trading office, located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Robinson was responsible for initial business planning, staffing and start-up operations.

He previously was a project director for Southern Energy and vice president of marketing for the predecessor to Southern Company Energy Marketing, which provides energy marketing, risk management and financial services and other energy-related commodities, products and services to customers in North America. He also worked as director of Southern Energy’s U.S. business development group for the eastern region.

Before joining Southern Energy, Robinson held jobs in business planning, procurement, economic development and other departments at Southern Company Services and Georgia Power, two other Southern Company subsidiaries.

Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Auburn University and an M.B.A. from Auburn University.
