Southern Company announces wholesale power agreement with Florida Power & Light

Southern Company announced today that it has signed three long-term wholesale power agreements with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). Under the agreements, Southern Company will provide a total of 955 megawatts of electric energy to FPL. Headquartered in Juno Beach, Fla., FPL is among the largest and fastest-growing electric utilities in the United States.

Power to supply FPL will be generated from Southern Company’s existing wholesale plant capacity. The new agreements replace existing wholesale contracts that expire in 2010.
