Southern Nuclear Plants Recognized for Wildlife Conservation

The Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant and the Edwin I. Hatch Electric Generating Plant have received the National Habitat Conservation Award, and have been re-certified as wildlife habitats by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

The certification program recognizes outstanding wildlife habitat management and environmental education efforts at corporate sites. Certification requirements are strict and require that sites apply for periodic renewal.

Plant Farley has been a certified wildlife habitat since 1992, Plant Hatch since 1994.

Southern Nuclear operates Plants Farley and Hatch. Plant Farley, located near Dothan, Alabama, is owned by Alabama Power. Plant Hatch, located near Baxley, Georgia, is owned jointly by Georgia Power, Oglethorpe Power, MEAG and the City of Dalton.
