Southern Company to release earnings on Jan. 19

ATLANTA -- Southern Company (NYSE:SO) plans to release its consolidated fourth quarter and year-end 2000 earnings at 7 a.m. EST Friday, Jan. 19.

Bill Dahlberg, chairman and chief executive officer, and W. Larry Westbrook, financial vice president and chief financial officer, will conduct a conference call for financial analysts at 11 a.m. EST Friday, Jan. 19.

Investors, media and the public may listen to a live Internet Webcast of the conference call at www.southerncompany.com by clicking on the appropriate audio link. A replay of the Webcast will be available at the same site for 10 days.

Briefing materials also will be posted at the same Web site at 7 a.m. EST Friday, Jan. 19.
