Southern Company has won top honors for its 1996 annual report depicting the company as the utility industry`s "900-pound gorilla." Reddy Corporation, an Albuquerque, New Mexico-based consulting firm went ape for the report, singling it out from 59 utility company reports considered in this year`s competition. "The report takes the 900-pound gorilla where it has never been before. A real leader in its class," the judges said.

Southern Company sent a photographer to Zoo Atlanta to photograph of a pack of simians to illustrate the company`s ability to lead, move fast and thrive.
