Southern Company unit acquires Security Systems of Savannah

In the latest effort to expand its presence in the security industry, PowerCall, Inc., a subsidiary of Southern Company, has acquired Security Systems of Savannah (Ga.) and its existing customer base. A Southern Company business unit, PowerCall provides value-added services such as commercial and residential security monitoring.

Security Systems of Savannah has been in business since 1983, providing similar services to Savannah’s residential and commercial market sectors.

“This is a logical and mutually beneficial relationship between two companies with long-term, growth-minded strategies,” said Bertram Sears, president and CEO of PowerCall, Inc. “Savannah is a strong market for home security, and we’re looking forward to building upon the respected presence that Security Systems of Savannah has already established in the community.”

Sears said that the transition from Security Systems of Savannah to PowerCall Security should be relatively seamless for most customers.
