Southern Company names head energy trader

Southern Company has named Chris Anderson head trader of the company’s wholesale energy trading floor in Birmingham, Ala.

Anderson’s responsibilities include the development of pricing and trading strategies for Southern Company’s overall energy trading portfolio.

“Anderson brings to our operation the trading expertise that will enable Southern Company to continue to be an industry leader in wholesale energy marketing,” said Fred Williams, Southern Company’s senior vice president of wholesale power marketing.

Before joining Southern Company, Anderson served as Northeast director of power and gas trading for Consolidated Natural Gas Energy Services Corp. in Pittsburgh. He also has been vice president of Northeast marketing for Natural Gas Clearinghouse.
