Southern Company names Leverett vice president and treasurer

ATLANTA – Southern Company announced today that Allen Leverett has been appointed vice president and treasurer of Southern Company Services, the subsidiary that supports Southern Company’s domestic and international affiliates.

Leverett, 33, was named vice president of financial planning and analysis for the company in 1997. In his new role, he will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, investor relations, capital markets and treasury.

Leverett joined Southern Company as a transmission engineer in 1988. Since then, he has worked in a number of areas including integrated resource planning, strategic planning, wholesale marketing and finance.

A native of Pelham, Ala., Leverett received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Auburn University.

Leverett serves on the board of directors and the finance committee of the Piedmont Park Conservancy in Atlanta.
