Southern Energy Inc., a unit of Southern Company, has named Curtis Griffin as regional accounts manager in its newly opened business development office in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Southern Energy President Tom Boren announced today.

Griffin will be responsible for Southern Energy’s business development and power marketing efforts in the energy markets of Texas. Griffin comes to Southern Energy from Texas Utilities Electric of Dallas, where he worked as a sales executive in marketing and sales operations. He also has served in marketing and customer service and engineering roles at Texas Utilities. Griffin holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dallas.

In addition to the new Dallas-Fort Worth office and its headquarters in Atlanta, Southern Energy operates U.S. business development offices in San Francisco, Vancouver, Wash., Boston, Concord, N.H., and Columbus, Ohio.

“Southern Energy is opening offices in key electricity markets of the United States to establish a presence and pursue opportunities in the rapidly developing power marketing business,” Boren said. “Our goal is to become one of the top energy marketing organizations in the nation.”
