Volunteers roll up their sleeves for Lake Martin cleanup, part of Renew Our Rivers campaign, on May 9

What: The sixth annual Lake Martin (Tallapoosa River) cleanup will be Saturday, May 9 in Tallapoosa County. Volunteers with or without boats can meet at D.A.R.E. Power Park at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake.  The cleanup will end at noon.
This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by the Middle Tallapoosa River Basin Clean Water Partnership and Alabama Power employees. 

Overview: Renew Our Rivers, the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaign, has collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris from Alabama and Southeast rivers since its inception in 2000.  There are 23 cleanups planned through Oct. 24 on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior and Mobile rivers.
