ATLANTA, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company (NYSE: SO), today announced the one-watt Motorola r765 has been added to its product portfolio. The r765 is a military-tough, radio-inspired phone, which will appeal to users who work in rugged, remote or noisy environments and require power, durability and immediate communications.

With top-mounted controls that allow no-look operation for talkgroup selection and high audio volume control, this Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) handset offers the ease of use and simplicity of a radio with the multiple features of the iDEN system.

"The Motorola r765 was designed with significant input from our SouthernLINC Wireless customers," said Michael Smith, director of business and government sales for SouthernLINC Wireless. "Several of the phone's features, including control knobs and a side connector for accessories, incorporate feedback we received from our subscribers in the field."

The r765 handset switches easily between private Push To Talk two-way radio (PTT), GroupTALK PTT, telephone, messaging, data and LINCaround™. With LINCaround, SouthernLINC Wireless customers can manually transfer their phones to an off-network, two-way radio communication mode that, depending on site conditions and terrain, can provide radio-to-radio coverage within a six-mile radius.

The r765 has a total radiated transmit power of one watt and components designed to give users better sound quality at higher volumes - a significant benefit in demanding environments. The additional power of this device means less distortion at higher volumes, and, because it meets U.S. Military 810 Specifications, the r765 can stand up to highly demanding situations.

Although the radio-inspired r765 is rugged, it is outfitted with the latest features, including Bluetooth® and GPS capabilities. Additionally, it is equipped with the advanced feature pack: emergency group calling, isolated site operation, status messaging and multi-simultaneous talkgroup calling.

The Motorola r765 is now available through SouthernLINC Wireless sales representatives, sales and service locations, authorized dealers or the online store at www.southernlinc.com/phones.asp. In-stock availability may vary by location.
