Alabama Power Company ranks in the top quartile of electric and gas company Web sites

BIRMINGHAM – A new survey ranks Alabama Power Company’s Web site among the top utility Web sites in the United States and Canada.

The survey, conducted by E SOURCE, placed Alabama Power 11th out of 100 North American electric and gas company Web sites.

Since 2002, E SOURCE has benchmarked utility Web sites to gauge how successful they are in serving residential customers. A total of 31 Web and mobile features (both content information and self-service tasks) were rated and reviewed. Testing Web sites on mobile devices as well as computers was new for this year’s study.

“Alabama Power Company’s ranking in the top quartile demonstrates its commitment to having a web site that gives customers what they need online,” said Andrew Heath, director of E SOURCE Customer Satisfaction Services.

E SOURCE has provided objective energy business intelligence to more than 300 utilities and large energy users for more than 20 years. The company’s benchmarking services are supported by the latest market research looking at what customers want in utility self-service.

Alabama Power, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Company (NYSE: SO), provides reliable, affordable electricity to more than 1.4 million customers across the state.
