Lake Conditions Alert

Spillway gates operating at Coosa River dams;

 Weiss and Logan Martin Lakes expected to crest near summer pool; Smith Lake expected to rise above summer pool

Because of today’s heavy rain, Alabama Power has opened spillway gates at Henry, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell and Jordan dams on the Coosa River to help manage flows and rising lake levels.

On the Coosa, Weiss Lake is expected to rise to near 563 feet on Saturday or Sunday, while Logan Martin could rise to near 464 feet tonight or early Saturday.

On the Warrior River, Smith lake is expected to rise over the next two days, peaking near 512 feet around Sunday.

Alabama Power will closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take steps to protect their property.
