Area Manager Willie Maise retiring from Alabama Power

GADSDEN – Eastern Division Area Manager Willie Maise’s final day in office on March 23 marks the end of a 37-year career with Alabama Power.

 

Maise’s service spans 11 positions in marketing, engineering, labor relations, customer service, operations, management and human resources. He has worked in nine communities and four company divisions across the state in increasing levels of responsibility.

 

“I am excited for Willie as he enters a new chapter of his life,” said Julia Segars, Alabama Power’s Eastern Division vice president. “But I am likewise saddened to lose a manager so dedicated to his employees and to the community he serves. Willie is like an icon for Alabama Power inside and out – representing generosity of spirit, a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong sense of ethics. We will miss him.”

 

A native of Glencoe, Maise attended Gadsden State Community College (GSCC) before receiving a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University in 1976 and a law degree from the Birmingham School of Law in 1981.

 

Maise is a member of the Alabama and Etowah Bar associations and the Society for Human Resource Management.  He is certified as a professional in human resources and a professional manager.

  

Maise is an active member of many civic and charitable organizations, including the Gadsden Rotary Club, GSCC Foundation, United Way of Etowah County, Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation, Downtown Gadsden Inc., the Gadsden Area Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of Gadsden/Etowah County, Keep Etowah Beautiful Inc. and the Gadsden Industrial Development Authority. He received the GSCC Distinguished Service Award in 2003 and its Outstanding Alumnus award in 2010. The C.I.T.Y. Program named him the “Peter V. Gregerson Citizen of the Year” in 2008 and he is a Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow.

 

Maise is married to the former Charlotte Coley of Glencoe. They have two children, Gina Speagle and husband Scott, who live in Montgomery, and Amanda Maise, who resides in Glencoe. They have three grandchildren.
