Porter named new Birmingham Division Area manager

Alabama Power has named Jonathan Porter as the Birmingham Division’s North Region area manager. His most recent position was the assistant to the executive vice president of External Affairs. He replaces Joyce E. Brooks, who was recently named project manager in Corporate Services.

In 2008, he led Alabama Power’s efforts for leadership development, talent management and diversity.

Porter is the board chairman of the Partnership in Neighborhood Growth (PING).  He has served as the immediate past president of the American Association of Blacks in Energy Birmingham Chapter, vice president of the National Association of African Americans in HR, community development coordinator for the National Association of Black MBAs, and as a member of the Birmingham Chapter of 100 Black Men, among other leadership roles in the community. Porter is active with the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club, where he spent much of his time as a youth.
