Alabama Power board of directors elects Raymond as chief financial officer

The Alabama Power board of directors has elected Phil Raymond as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer effective August 13.  The position had been previously held by Art Beattie who has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer for Southern Company.

 

Raymond has more than 28 years experience in the utility industry and was most recently the chief financial officer for Gulf Power in Pensacola, Fla.  He joined Southern Company in 1991 and has worked in financial management positions with Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, Mississippi Power and Southern Company Services.  Raymond’s previous service to Alabama Power was as vice president and comptroller.  Earlier in his career, Raymond worked in the office of the chief accountant with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington D.C.

Raymond is a 1982 graduate of the University of Maine at Machias with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He completed the Goizueta Executive Education program at Emory University in Atlanta and is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Raymond and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Lacey and Kara, and a son, Michael.
