Alabama Power board of directors elects Novak as new officer

The Alabama Power board of directors has elected Ken Novak as vice president with responsibility for Economic and Community Development.

Novak was most recently manager of Economic and Community Development for Alabama Power, responsible for active recruitment of companies to the state and the management of the company’s community development efforts.  He has over 19 years of economic development experience.

Novak began his career with Alabama Power in 1981 as junior engineer in Birmingham.  He progressed through supervisory and management positions in power generation and in the company’s headquarters before joining the Economic and Community Development department.

“Ken’s efforts in economic development have helped bring numerous jobs to Alabama,” said Charles McCrary, president and CEO, Alabama Power.  “His election as an officer of our company is based upon his track record of success.”

Novak received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Alabama in 1981 and earned an MBA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1989.  He is currently a board vice president of the Economic Development Association of Alabama.

Novak and his wife, Sandy, have a daughter, Kathryn.
