Georgia Power names Jason Cuevas vice president of Corporate Communication

ATLANTA– Jason Cuevas has been elected vice president of Corporate Communication by the Georgia Power board of directors. Cuevas will oversee the company’s advertising, creative and production services, electronic communications, employee communications, media relations and social media initiatives.

Most recently, Cuevas served as media relations manager for Southern Company.

"Jason’s broad-based internal and external experiences will be valuable in our current business and media climates," said Georgia Power President and CEO Paul Bowers. "In addition, his selection strengthens our cross-company leadership development that is important to our company in meeting its increasing business challenges."

Prior to joining Southern Company in 2006, Cuevas was a policy and public affairs specialist at the Edison Electric Institute in Washington, where he led outreach initiatives in the legislative and regulatory arenas. He also has served in a variety of domestic and international public-governmental relations and economic development roles for EarthLink Inc., Mirant Corp. and the New Orleans-based MetroVision Economic Development Partnership.

Cuevas earned a bachelor of arts in communications from Loyola University New Orleans and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. Externally, he serves on the board of directors and chairs the scholarship committee for Heroes and Champions Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the National Press Club and the Arthur W. Page Society’s Institute for Public Relations.
