Volunteers to clean Lay Lake April 9

What:  The Lay Lake cleanup is Saturday, April 9
 
This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is sponsored by the Lay Lake Home and Boat Owners Association. Volunteers will meet at Beeswax Public Boat Launch at 8 a.m. The cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch.

Overview:  Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanups, have collected more than 11 million pounds of trash and debris since its inception in 2000. More than 30 cleanups are held each year from February through October on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Coosa, Mobile, Chattahoochee and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: From Birmingham, take 280 East. Turn right on Alabama 47/Chelsea Road, turn left at East College Street/State Route 25 Business. Slight right at County Road 28/Ferry Road. Turn left at Alabama 145 North. Turn right at Beeswax Park Road and go to 245 Beeswax Park Road.
