Volunteers to clean Lake Jordan April 16

What:  The annual Lake Jordan cleanup is Saturday, April 16.
 
This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is sponsored by Lake Jordan Homeowners and Boat Owners Association. Volunteers should report to Bonner’s Point Landing in Wetumpka  at 8a.m. The cleanup will end at noon, followed by a picnic lunch.

In 2010, 250 volunteers collected 5.53 tons of litter from Lake Jordan.

Overview:  Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanups, have collected more than 11 million pounds of trash and debris since its inception in 2000. More than 30 cleanups are held each year from February through October on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: From Wetumpka, travel north on Highway 111 for about 8 miles to Bonner's Point Road. Turn right and follow Bonner's Point Road a half-mile to the boat ramp.
