Volunteers to clean Tallapoosa River near Wadley April 30

What:  The Tallapoosa River cleanup is Saturday, April 30.
 
Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. The cleanup will end at noon. A breakfast will be provided to those who contact coordinators before April 27. Free boat and equipment rentals will be provided on a limited basis by Tallapoosa Wild.

Overview:  Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest
river cleanups, have collected more than 11 million pounds of trash and debris since its inception in 2000. More than 30 cleanups are held each year from February through October on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions: State Road 22 in Wadley. (First right past bridge if coming from Roanoke/LaFayette; last left before bridge if coming from Alex City/Ashland/Lineville.)
