Plant Hatch Unit 2 begins planned maintenance outage

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Plant operators safely began taking Unit 2 of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant offline May 4 for a planned maintenance outage.

Personnel also will perform various inspections and equipment improvements to ensure reliable electricity generation throughout the peak summer operating period.  

Plant Hatch Unit 1 will continue to safely generate electricity while Unit 2 is offline.
