Southern Telecom® Announces Office Relocation

ATLANTA – April 3, 2006 – Southern Telecom®, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), has announced the move of its headquarters, previously located at 3003 Summit Boulevard, Atlanta, GA into Southern Company Center, also located in the Atlanta area at 30 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NW. The Southern Telecom office has moved into the 12th floor of Southern Company Center.

Southern Company is one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States. Southern Telecom provides long-haul and metropolitan dark fiber connecting Atlanta with other smaller cities throughout the Southeast.

“We are pleased to relocate to Southern Company Center,” said Bob Dawson, President and CEO of Southern Telecom. “Southern Telecom has always worked closely with the Southern Company team, and we see this move as an opportunity to increase team cohesiveness.”

For the past five years Southern Telecom has operated from its present headquarters at 3003 Summit Boulevard in the Atlanta Perimeter Mall area. The availability of new, state-of-the-art office space in the midst of Southern Telecom’s Central Business District fiber optic network came at an opportune time.

“By relocating to Southern Company Center, Southern Telecom joins other Southern Company organizations that will benefit from enhanced security, ample parking, improved commute options and cost-effective space in the revitalized Centennial Hill area of Atlanta,” said Brian Spickard, Director of Business Assurance for Southern Company. “Southern Telecom will also be conveniently located in close proximity to the Georgia Power headquarters building where several key support functions are housed.”
