Gulf Power crews to work on power line along Grand Lagoon Bridge

Gulf Power Company will begin work on an important power line installation project on Grand Lagoon Bridge, starting on Aug. 27.

To reduce traffic impact on Thomas Drive, crews will work between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Monday through Friday. Initially, work over water will start from a barge in the lagoon, with no traffic impact anticipated. The work from the southbound lane of the bridge is scheduled to start Sept. 4 and runs through Sept. 21.

No outages are anticipated during this project.

There will be lane closures and/or slowed traffic during the work along the bridge. Both southbound lanes will be closed and southbound traffic will be diverted to the inside northbound lane. Northbound traffic will remain in the outside northbound lane. Please take care while traveling in this area during construction.

Gulf Power relocated the line in 2009 to accommodate the reconstruction of Grand Lagoon Bridge. The upcoming project is to move the line back to its permanent location closer to the bridge within the road right-of-way.
