LAKE CONDITIONS ALERT
Spillway gates continue to operate at Coosa River dams; Smith Lake above summer pool

Because of lingering rainfall, Alabama Power has opened spillway gates at its Henry, Jordan, Lay, Logan Martin and Mitchell dams on the Coosa River to help manage flows and rising lake levels. Spill operations will continue for several days as Alabama Power releases excess flows. Weiss and Logan Martin lakes are above normal levels for this time of year, but aren’t expected to reach or exceed their summer pool levels.

On the Warrior River, Smith Lake is expected to crest late Friday or Saturday near elevation 514 feet, about 4 feet above its summer pool elevation. No spill operations are expected on Alabama Power’s Tallapoosa River dams.

Alabama Power will continue to closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage water resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water sports equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs, and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
