Volunteers set to clean Lay Lake April 20

What: The Renew Our Rivers Lay Lake cleanup is Saturday, April 20 .Volunteers should report at 8 a.m. to Beeswax Public Boat Launch. The cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch.

Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanups, have collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers and various lakes throughout the state.

Directions: From Columbiana – Travel east on County Road 28 approximately five miles. Turn left onto Highway 145. Travel one mile to the bridge crossing. Beeswax Public Boat Launch will be on the right.
