Volunteers set to clean Weeks Bay May 11

What:

The Renew Our Rivers Weeks Bay cleanup is Saturday, May 11.Volunteers should report at 8 a.m. to the Weeks Bay Resource Center. The cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch.

Overview:

Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanups, have collected more than 10 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers and various lakes throughout the state.

Directions:

From Mobile: Travel on I-10 toward Pensacola and take Exit 35A. Travel south 20 miles on Highway 98 to the Weeks Bay Resource Center.
