Georgia Power recognized for commitment to diversity by Hispanic Network Magazine
Company included in publication's 2013 "Best of the Best" list

ATLANTA, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hispanic Network Magazine has named Georgia Power to its 2013 "Best of the Best" list. The annual list highlights organizations across multiple industries, including energy, that strive for diversity and incorporate it into their business practices. The list is compiled from market research, independent research, diversity conference participation and interviews that were performed by agents and/or affiliates of DiversityComm, the magazine's publisher.

"Part of our ongoing commitment to employees is to foster an environment in which every employee feels valued, respected and productive," said Moanica Caston, vice president of diversity and inclusion for Georgia Power. "We believe that when we as a company reflect the communities we serve, we are better able to understand market demographics and, ultimately, better equipped to attract and meet the needs of that marketplace."

The company focuses on maintaining a workforce that represents the communities it serves while creating a work environment where employees are valued for diverse ideas, experiences, and backgrounds.

In addition, Georgia Power actively builds relationships with community partners such as the Latin American Association and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, among others, as well as and diverse suppliers including female-, veteran- and minority-owned businesses. The company's Diversity & Inclusion organization, which oversees Georgia Power's efforts in these areas, sets annual goals for the company and monitors them quarterly along with other key operational goals.
