More power at your fingertips with My GulfPower.com

Imagine a world where you can view how much electricity you’ve bought any day during the month — and not just when you get your bill. That’s exactly what you can now do through My GulfPower.com.

Gulf Power Company is enhancing customers’ online experience throughout 2013 with new features and tools that will put more information at customers’ fingertips than ever before.

The latest tool allows customers to see the amount of electricity they’re buying on a daily basis by viewing an easy-to-read bar graph. Customers will also be able to set up customized notifications that alert them with an email when they’ve spent a certain amount of money or used a certain amount of energy based on limits they’ve previously selected for themselves.

“These alerts are similar to how cell phone companies notify customers when they’ve used too many minutes,” said Natalie Smith, Gulf Power spokesperson. “This allows you to cut back or adjust what you’re buying and helps you to better control your monthly bill.”

The new feature also shows customers the high and low outside temperatures to help them see how weather may be affecting their bill.

“This tool was created with the goal of giving customers more information to help them understand their energy purchases and help them gain more control over their electricity bill,” said Smith.

Customers can access this free feature and all of the upcoming new Gulf Power online features by setting up an online account through My GulfPower.com — just go to gulfpower.com and click on “Sign Up” under “My Account” on the left. Customers who already have an online account with Gulf Power will automatically have access to these new features and simply need to log in to view them.

Once you have logged into your account, view the information under “My Power Usage” to be able to:

  • View the amount of electricity you use monthly and daily on an easy-to-read bar graph
  • Create customized alerts and notifications about your daily or month-to-date electricity use
  • Avoid end-of-the-month surprises by knowing how much you are being billed each day
  • See an estimated projection of your bill during the month
  • See how weather impacts your bill
  • Receive energy efficiency tips to help you maximize the value of your energy purchase

Later this summer, Gulf Power also plans to roll out a real-time map online so customers can see information about power outages. Customers also will be able to sign up for text alerts through their My GulfPower.com account that notify them if they lose power at home.
