Volunteers set to clean Bankhead June 1

What:                         The Renew Our Rivers Bankhead Lake cleanup is
                                   Saturday, June 1.Volunteers should report
                                   at 8 a.m. to Quinn’s Landing in Oakman. The

                                   cleanup will end at noon followed by a picnic lunch.

 

Overview:                 Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s
                                   largest river cleanups, have collected more than 10
                                   million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s
                                   inception in 2000. This year, 30 cleanups are planned
                                   through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior,
                                   Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa
                                   rivers and various lakes throughout the state.

Directions:                From Tuscaloosa: Travel 40 miles on Highway 69 towards
                                  Jasper. Turn right onto Blue Water Road and travel 2 miles. 

                                  Take a left onto Earnest Chapel Road to Quinn’s Landing.
