ATLANTA - Dec. 6, 2007 - First Mile Communications, a provider of high-speed Internet access, today announced the expansion of its metro Ethernet service into Buckhead, Atlanta's preeminent business district. The company uses the latest in fixed wireless technology in conjunction with Southern Telecom, a subsidiary of Southern Company.

Beginning today, First Mile is able to provide high-speed Internet to customers to and from Tower Place, a 610,000 square foot landmark building located in the heart of Buckhead. First Mile, which combines its technology with Southern Telecom's Wireless Lateral® product, will offer broadband Internet connectivity with speeds ranging from 3 Mbps to 200 Mbps to more than 7,700 businesses within a five-mile radius of Tower Place.

"Establishing a Buckhead hub site is an important step in our effort to blanket metropolitan Atlanta with fast, reliable and secure internet services," said R. Stanley Allen, president of First Mile Communications. "Buckhead is the largest single-office market in Atlanta with a wide variety of firms that can benefit from a scalable online solution."

First Mile's metro Ethernet network now covers 14 of Atlanta's premier office buildings representing approximately 8 million square feet of office space. The company has tailored its wireless offering as an easy-to-use means of reaching buildings located throughout Atlanta. In addition to "lighting" Tower Place, First Mile has added One Buckhead Plaza and Prominence Buckhead to a growing list of served buildings that includes Colony Square, One Atlantic Center, Centennial Tower, Promenade II, Proscenium, 1100 Peachtree and 30 Allen Plaza, among others.

By using state-of-the-art equipment, First Mile's solution allows for reliable, flexible high-capacity wireless links as well as complete route diversity from land-based telecommunications providers, which is particularly important in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

"Having a Buckhead hub site enables First Mile to offer current and future customers an expanded footprint and coverage of additional buildings," said Ben Easterling, business development manager for Southern Telecom. "The substantial number of buildings and businesses within reach of Tower Place through fixed broadband wireless is impressive and allows First Mile to offer our Wireless Lateral product to a much larger geographic area."
