The sales tax holiday applies to products that have been designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy as meeting or exceeding each agency's energy-saving efficiency requirements, or which have been designated as meeting or exceeding such requirements under each agency's ENERGY STAR® program. The exemption is valid for products that have a sales price of $1,500 or less per item and are being purchased for non-commercial home or personal use.

"Georgia's sales tax holiday for energy efficient products is a great way to highlight the value that these products offer customers in the long term and the impact they have on protecting the environment," said Michele Wagner, director of energy efficiency for Georgia Power. "We encourage our customers to take advantage of this opportunity to save money on their purchases and to consider ways to make their homes more energy efficient throughout the year."

ENERGY STAR® products are 10 to 50 percent more energy efficient than standard products. In addition to saving money during the sales tax holiday, Georgia Power residential customers who purchase an ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerator, freezer or clothes washer may qualify to receive a rebate from Georgia Power. Additional information on the sales tax holiday, as well as available rebates from Georgia Power, is available at www.georgiapower.com.
