Bay County-area community groups recognized with Power of Service awards

Gulf Power Company honored three Bay County-area community service groups with Power of Service awards Tuesday night in Panama City. The awards recognize groups that continue Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of helping others.

New Horizons Learning Center, Save Our Sons SOS and Basic of Northwest Florida each were honored for their service and awarded $2,500 to help continue their community outreach.

“The Power of Service award is a way to honor these groups who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others and help strengthen our communities,” said Stan Connally, Gulf Power President & CEO. “Organizations like these need and deserve the community’s support to help them continue to improve the future of people in our community.”

This is the first “Power of Service” award ceremony recognizing organizations in the Bay County area. Gulf Power will continue with Power of Service Awards in the Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach areas.
