What:  The 7th annual Logan Martin cleanup will be this Saturday, April 5. Volunteers will meet at the Lakeside Landing off of Highway 231 South in Pell City at 8 a.m. to remove trash, tires and discarded items from the lake. The cleanup will end at noon, followed by a picnic lunch and bluegrass music.

Renew Our Rivers is being coordinated by the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association. In 2007, more than 13 tons of trash and debris was removed from Logan Martin Lake.

Overview:  Renew Our Rivers, the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaign,
has collected nearly 8.6 million pounds of trash and debris from Alabama and Southeast rivers since its 2000 inception. There are 27 cleanups planned through Oct. 25.

Cleanups are held on the Cahaba, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior and Mobile rivers in Alabama.

From Birmingham – Take Interstate 20/59 toward Atlanta/Gadsden.  Merge onto Interstate 20 East via exit 130 toward Atlanta.  Travel approximately 29 miles.  Merge onto U.S. 231 via exit 158 toward Pell City.  Travel approximately 6.5 miles. Lakeside Landing is located at 4600 Martin Street South.
