Alabama Power Company Board of Directors Elects New Officer

The Alabama Power Company Board of Directors today elected Larry R. Grill vice president of corporate services.

In his new role, Grill will have oversight of the company's corporate services areas, which include managing and developing the company's real estate, forests and shorelines, directing fleet operations, materials procurement, warehousing, building operations and maintenance, conference and travel services and other corporate support functions.

Grill, a Birmingham native, began his career with Alabama Power in 1967. His professional responsibilities have included engineering, corporate real estate, fleet services, contracts, legal services, procurement and general services. In 1971 he went to work for Southern Company Services and Georgia Power, both subsidiaries of Southern Company. He returned to Alabama Power in 1994 as general manager of material services, and in 2002 was named general manager of corporate services.

He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Auburn University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Birmingham School of Law. He is a member of the Alabama Bar Association.

Grill serves on the board of directors for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham and the board of trustees for the Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center at the University of Alabama. He has served for 20 years as municipal judge for the Town of Kimberly and has served as alternate municipal judge and as special prosecutor for other Alabama municipalities. Grill is married to the former Rosemary Carlson. They have four children and six grandchildren.
