Alabama Power Unveils Clean Air Technology

  What:    Alabama Power President and CEO Charles McCrary, plus key company
           officials, unveil new environmental controls at Plant Miller.
           The improvements are part of Alabama Power's $500 million
           initiative to significantly reduce emissions that contribute to
           ground-level ozone.

  When:    Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 10 a.m. Interested media may tour the
           plant following the news conference.

  Where:   Plant Miller, off Highway 78 in west Jefferson County.  Take
           Highway 78 north about 10 miles to Graysville. Get off at exit
           for Flat Top Road, which is just past Graysville and an overpass.
           Turn left at stop sign and pass under Highway 78 on Flat Top
           Road.  Continue about 5 miles.  Make left at T.  Continue another
           2 miles.  Plant entrance is on your left.  Enter plant at main
           gate, which is over a bridge and past the construction entrance.
           Follow signs to news conference site.
