What: Birmingham-area media are invited to see the ongoing construction of nearly $1 billion in clean-air technology at Alabama Power’s Plant Miller in Jefferson County. The technology will result in significant emissions reductions from the plant.

When:  Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Media is advised to arrive at
10 a.m. for a briefing on the technology. The construction tour begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. Interested media may also visit the existing plant following the construction tour.

Where: Plant Miller, in west Jefferson County. From Interstate 20/59, take the Arkadelphia Road exit to Highway 78. Go north on Highway 78 about 12 miles to the entrance for the new Interstate 22 toward Jasper. Take I-22 to Exit 81 - West Jefferson. Turn left off the ramp onto Flat Top Road. Go about 2 miles. Plant entrance is on your left. Enter plant site at main gate, which is over a bridge and past  the construction entrance. (Travel time from downtown Birmingham: 30 minutes.)
