Alabama Power to replace overhead ground wires on transmission lines

BIRMINGHAM - July 8, 2008 - Wednesday July 9, Alabama Power Company will begin replacing existing overhead ground wires on transmission lines running from Pell City to Leeds to Moody, and ending at Highway 280 near the Birmingham Water Works filter plant.

Work will last several months and involve a helicopter making several daily trips.  Crews will begin working extended hours at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday. The work should be completed mid-October.
