Traffic delays expected on Shelby County’s Highway 11

Residents who live along Shelby County’s Highway 11, off old U.S. 280, should expect traffic delays over the next two to three months due to work being done by Alabama Power. Construction is scheduled to begin on June 11. Both lanes of traffic are expected to be closed intermittently during the summer between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Alabama Power is building an electrical line on Shelby County Highway 11 and will be adding new power poles. This is designed to upgrade and improve the reliability of service to customers and to meet increasing power demands in this fast-growing area between Pelham and Chelsea.

Those who live in surrounding communities should consider alternate routes during this construction phase.

Alabama Power, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Company (NYSE: SO), provides reliable, affordable electricity to more than 1.4 million customers across the state.
