Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort - Media Advisory

SAVANNAH ELECTRIC MEDIA ADVISORY (Local news media outlets have asked to be kept informed of Savannah Electric efforts aimed at providing relief after the Hurricane Katrina disaster.)

WHAT: Employee preparation and truck-loading of relief bags to be delivered to Mississippi Power employees

WHEN: 4:30 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005

WHERE: Savannah Electric Operations Center, Kilowatt Drive

WHY: While Savannah Electric`s storm team has been busy restoring power in affected areas for several days, other efforts have been ongoing behind the scenes.

Today at 4:30 p.m., a group of Savannah Electric employees will be packing approximately 250 relief bags that will be transported to their co-workers at Mississippi Power.

Mississippi Power, a sister company to Savannah Electric under Southern Company, experienced devastating damage from the storm.

The bags, which will be transported to the area on Friday, will provide a few "essentials" to employees and their families while they struggle to restore power for their customers and cope with their own losses in the storm-ravaged area.
