Making Progress after the Storm

Savannah Electric crews continue to make progress in restoring power to Savannah and the surrounding area. Latest figures place the number of outages at 15,000, and Company officials expect to make significant progress on restoration during the day.

“At present, we have 50 evaluation teams looking at areas that are behind houses and areas that may be difficult to access. As those reports come in, we will assign our crews for the most effective restoration process.” said John Kraft, Savannah Electric spokesman.

Over 120 tree crews are in the staging areas preparing to advance based on the results of the evaluation teams’ efforts. Additional crews from Mississippi Power Company are also expected to arrive today to supplement Savannah Electric’s restoration efforts.
