Savannah Electric conducts annual disaster preparedness drill

Tuesday morning, March 21, employee teams will gather to review their REACT assignments, survey the electrical system in assigned territories, conduct a mock version of their five percent sampling procedure, check supplies and equipment, and otherwise prepare for disaster recovery.

The REACT (Restoration Evaluation and Communications Techniques) program utilizes over 500 company employees by implementing special emergency operating procedures designed to restore electric service safely, quickly and efficiently in the wake of natural disasters.

Because of the significant involvement by employees on this day, Savannah Electric will conduct regular business on a limited basis. Emergency service is available by calling 1-800-437-3890 or the Outage Hotline at 1-800-390-2834. Customer Service offices will be open.

Savannah Electric employees train throughout the year in preparation for emergencies. In addition, the Company works closely with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) in planning and coordinating our emergency response.
