Savannah Electric assists Georgia Power after severe storms

On Tuesday, June 16, Savannah Electric sent a 17-person storm team to assist in the restoration of power in the Atlanta area. Northwest Georgia experienced severe thunderstorms and damaging winds overnight resulting in numerous power outages. Savannah Electric’s sister company, Georgia Power, requested any available assistance.

The local employees will work today and tomorrow and are expected to return to Savannah late tomorrow.

It is common practice among utilities, especially those within the Southern Company system, to lend support under emergency conditions.

Savannah Electric is a subsidiary of Southern Company. Southern Company (NYSE: SO), the largest producer of electricity in the United States, is the parent firm of Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power, Mississippi Power and Savannah Electric.
