Traffic delays expected on Shelby County’s Highway 11

Residents who live along Highway 11 in Shelby County, off U.S. 280, should expect traffic delays over the next two to three months due to work being done by Alabama Power. Both lanes of traffic are expected to be closed intermittently at various times between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Alabama Power is building a new electrical line on Highway 11 and will be adding new power poles. This is designed to upgrade and improve the reliability of service to customers and to meet increasing power demands in this fast growing area.

Those who live in surrounding communities should consider alternate routes during this construction phase.

Alabama Power, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Company (NYSE: SO), is celebrating its centennial this year. Alabama Power provides reliable, affordable electricity to more than 1.4 million customers across the state.
