Savannah Electric and employees help fund Savannah State University Scholars Program

To ensure that Savannah State continues to attract the brightest and most talented students, Savannah Electric and a number of Savannah Electric employees are donating to the Savannah State University Scholars Program.

The contributing employees -- some of them Savannah State alumni -- are making personal donations to the fund. Combined with Savannah Electric’s Educational Matching Gift program, the employee-initiated campaign resulted in a total contribution of $24,000.

A presentation to announce the gift total will be made to Savannah State officials at a noon luncheon at Savannah Electric headquarters on Friday March 9, 2001. Savannah Electric president and CEO, Ed Holland and the employees involved will host the event in the company’s Gignilliat Auditorium.

Savannah Electric serves over 132,000 customers in Southeast Georgia including all or parts of Chatham, Effingham, Bulloch, Bryan and Screven Counties. Savannah Electric is a subsidiary of Southern Company.
