Savannah Electric Y2K Update, 3:15 a.m. EST, Other time zone transitions continue to go smoothly.

THIS IS A SAVANNAH ELECTRIC YEAR 2000 UPDATE FOR JAN 1, 2000, AT 3:15 A.M. EST.

As the Year 2000 crossed other time zones in the United States, Savannah Electric did not experience any problems with its systems that are critical to keeping the lights on for its customers.

"Our systems made the New Year`s transition without any Y2K service interruptions," Steve Eady, Savannah Electric Year 2000 Coordinator, said. "The credit goes to our employees who have spent countless hours since 1996 working to prepare our computer systems. It was a tremendous effort and an example of our focus on customer service and reliability."

Earlier today, Southern Company -- Savannah Electric`s parent company -- had facilities elsewhere in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and the Caribbean which transitioned into the Year 2000. Southern Company identified no problems with its systems that are critical to keeping the lights on for its customers in these locations either.
