Mississippi Power Foundation awards grants to local schools Mason Elementary School and Waynesboro Middle School are recent recipients of grants totaling more than $1,700 from the Mississippi Power Foundation. “The goal of the grants is to help provide support for quality education programs throughout Mississippi,” said Huntley Biggs, executive director, Mississippi Power Foundation. “The Mississippi Power Foundation is pleased to have the opportunity to play a positive role in the lives of students.” Mason Elementary School received a grant to help encourage first graders to read while fostering interest in science and ecology. Waynesboro Middle School received a grant to help provide students a hands-on learning experience with photography. The Mississippi Power Foundation was established in 1984 by Mississippi Power Company to support excellence in education. In the past 13 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in grants for education projects in Mississippi.
