Northwest Junior High receives grant from Mississippi Power Foundation Students at Northwest Junior High School in Meridian will be able to use state-of-the-art technology to learn about science thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Power Foundation. The $1,951 grant was awarded to the school in support of the “Microworld Adventures” project. This program combines multimedia presentation and microscopes to give students a chance to explore microbiology. The grant will be used to purchase laboratory equipment as well as a video camera for the classroom. “The Mississippi Power Foundation has had a long tradition of funding worthy projects for Mississippi’s children,” said Huntley Biggs, executive director, Mississippi Power Foundation. “We take pride in having the opportunity to further students’ understanding of science with this exceptional project.” The Mississippi Power Foundation was set up in 1984 by Mississippi Power Company to support excellence in education. In the past 13 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in grants for education projects in Mississippi.
